April 2012- 9 months after its release Lodestar and Body On The Beach are finally on Spotify. About time too... January 2012- Pocket Magnetic has contributed to an Exquisite Corpse Chain Letter. It can be heard and downloaded at http://www.archive.org/details/ecaclv3. The relevant piece is Letter 172 and P's contribution is sandwiched between Alan Holmes (Ectogram, Parking Non-Stop) and Steve Blacker. More letters to follow as people get them finished. August 2011- The vinyl is finally ready, 2 months late, but now here. It is limited to 50 hand numbered copies and consists of disc, colour sleeve, b/w insert and digital download. It can be bought from the Pocket Magnetic shop. The record is a lathe cut and is different from a standard pressing. Please read about lathe cuts here before purchasing. July 2011- Blacker, an old friend and collaborator based in Canada has produced a remix of Lodestar. Download it for free here. Alternatively listen to it here or at Soundcloud here. tracks "Lodestar" and "Body On The Beach" is being
arranged through CDBaby.
The tracks are available for download there and will soon be available
from all the usual download outlets. The tracks can be downloaded directly
now from the Pocket
Magnetic shop. Streaming via
sites like Spotify will happen but experience tells us this could take a
few months. March 2011- Pocket Magnetic has collaborated with singer Josh Magnetic, the result being 2 tracks, "Lodestar" and "Body On The Beach." Listen to excerpts here. The tracks are available as downloads from the shop, as a promo CD (not for sale) and, as soon as they come back from the cutters (due date end of May), a clear vinyl 7" single which will be available from the shop. The 7" will be limited to 50 copies, will include a free download and will be sold at cost price as lathe cuts are expensive to produce. February 2011- The play list for Pocket Magnetic's DJ set is viewable on the Myspace blog. Thanks to everyone there and said nice things about P's discerning taste in music! January 2011- On Monday 31st, Pocket Magnetic will be DJ-ing at Cafe Concrete, upstairs at the Voodoo Lounge from about 9pm. Expect Electronic, Kosmiche and Krautrock delights. September 2010- On Friday September 10th somewhere between 10pm and midnight UK time there will be a 60 minute mix by Pocket Magnetic on CRMK's Garden of Earthly Delights show. It will be a mixture of Pocket Magnetic material and some electronic, krautrock and punk favourites. September 2010- "Uncool and Calculated" has been reviewed in Freq magazine. Read the review here. July 2010- A new 'one minute wonder' ("Nasty Piece Of Work") has been added to the Miscellaneous Oddities Music Page. It can be downloaded free of charge. July 2010- The music pages have now been updated with a streaming mp3 player. July 2010- Enjoyable shows played at Goblin Coombe (outdoors on a beautiful evening) and Cafe Concrete in Plymouth. Thanks to all who came along and enjoyed it. May 2010- A free download of the single (music and artwork) from the 2nd album is available from the shop. It is a single edit of the 2nd album's pop classic "You Don't Have To Know" May 2010- The website is going to be updated particularly the music section over the next few weeks or so. Please be patient and email any queries. May 2010- It gives great pleasure to announce that the 2nd Pocket Magnetic album is now available from the shop and CDBaby. Like the 1st album it will also be available for download from many outlets and for streaming on sites like Spotify and Last FM. P is very pleased with the outcome and hopes you will be too! February 2010- Well done to anorak Nick Rolfe for spotting that the typo in the letter was 'Hilper' instead of 'Hilpert'. A cd will be on its way once we have an address. December 2009- Ha! P has a letter in the Christmas issue of Record Collector. Read it here to witness P's petty nit picking or buy the rather excellent magazine. Ironically, there is a typo in the letter as it appears giving P another chance to pettily nit pick. The first email that correctly identifies the typo will get a free cd (and a Pocket Magnetic anorak when they are produced!) November 2009- The 2nd album, provisionally entitled "Uncool and Calculated" is at the mastering stage. November 2009- Gigs in November: 1) Fri Nov 6th with Dreadzone at the White Rabbit, Plymouth. 2) Sat Nov 21st with Kid Carpet at the Thunderbolt, Totterdown, Bristol. 3) Mon Nov 30th at Cafe Concrete, Voodoo Lounge, Plymouth. October 2009- Not content with purveying fine quality electronic music as Pocket Magnetic, P. is now also playing bass guitar with Plymouth outfit Seeyellow featuring members of Denada and CDS. The website is under construction and will soon be ready. August 2009- Our
chums at Cafe Concrete are on internet radio on Mondays in August between
8pm and 11pm BST. They will be playing lots of unusual and exotic stuff
including Pocket Magnetic. The link is July 2009- Apologies for not updating the website, very busy you see, but must make more of an effort. The Myspace page is always up to date. Thanks to those attending recent shows, very positive all round. If you have a chance to visit INOPO's VoxBox exhibition, check out the Cafe Concrete exhibit which includes a Pocket Magnetic track. release. July 2008- Due to some interest, P. Magnetic has uploaded some of his photos taken in various Tibetan regions. View them by visiting the Myspace page and click on 'view my pics'. October 2007- Thanks to all who saw Pocket Magnetic play at the Bbar in the Barbican Theatre, Plymouth. Click on this link to see some photos of the gig. August 2007- "Radio Sampler" is released featuring 4 tracks, all different versions of tunes from the debut album. Mainly a promotional item, it can be purchased at a stupidly low price from the website's shop. August 2007- "Pocket Magnetic" cd album is released; 8 tracks, 56 minutes. Listen to tracks and buy it from the website's shop. March 2007- Tracks for Pocket Magnetic's debut album have been mixed and are ready for release. P. Magnetic is now looking into various options to allow a release devoid of any record company involvement. January 2007- P. Magnetic is currently based in Tianjin, China, where he is working on tracks for a debut album and preparing for live shows.
